SCUP has four planning academies with a cadre of 100+ volunteers. These valuable content experts review concurrent session proposal submissions for the annual, international conference.
Academy members must be current members of SCUP. General academy membership is maintained by serving as reviewers in the annual conference proposal process each October. Proposals are assigned based on member expertise. Not all volunteers will be selected for academy membership. Member selection is based upon expertise needs in different subject areas.
New academy members must attend a brief orientation conference call prior to the October review period. After we have closed the call for proposals on October 1, we will process and assign proposals to members using their self-indicated areas of expertise as a guide. Members will receive their assignment of 8-12 proposals around the second week of October, and will have three weekends to read and evaluate each proposal. Proposals are assigned and reviews are submitted online.
