Abstract: Higher education campuses have changed very little since the post-industrial era despite the diverse and evolving needs of the modern student. As students seek opportunities for interaction and engagement, institutions have a responsibility to not only provide them with knowledge, but a welcoming environment in which to thrive. This session will explore the diverse experiences of students, faculty, and staff on campus and how they correlate with a sense of wellbeing and belonging. Cleveland State University Campus Tour

The Washkewicz College of Engineering added over 100,000 GSF (gross square feet) to the existing 200,000 GSF building—completed in 2018—on the campus edge in downtown Cleveland.

Abstract: The Washkewicz College of Engineering added over 100,000 GSF (gross square feet) to the existing 200,000 GSF building, completed in 2018. The building has become an icon for the college with its modern lab and teaching spaces, and serves as campus entrance marker in downtown Cleveland.

Abstract: In today’s economy, 7 out of 10 open jobs require technical training. Industries are turning to community colleges to solve their workforce training needs. Planning Adaptable Spaces for a Growing Campus Community

We will share how the renovation of The Ohio State University’s Biomedical and Materials Science Engineering Complex’s managed project objectives to achieve the best use of space, phased construction, budget, and sustainability goals.
Abstract: The Ohio State University (OSU) strategically planned and designed research and academic spaces for their growing College of Engineering program. This phased renovation and addition to existing laboratories within a prominent campus core provided OSU with a contextual gateway as well as essential research and academic space to support growing enrollment. We will share how the Biomedical and Materials Science Engineering Complex’s (BMEC) renovation required diligent management of project objectives to achieve the best use of space, phased construction, budget, and sustainability goals for a signature project.
