This session will demonstrate how to meet complex needs for economic mobility and the workforce through several diverse partnerships involving campus buildings, major public realm investments, and a $300 million public-supported levy. You’ll learn about various sources you can use to achieve successful project results—city capital and operational money, voters, private sector—as well as how you can nurture your campus and community partnerships for the long term.

Using Metrics to Maximize the UW-Platteville Engineering Facility

We’ll discuss how we leveraged metrics and space utilization studies to achieve a unifying one-building solution for all engineering programs at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville rather than the original master plan vision for three buildings.
Abstract: Through the use of real-time data, institutions can overcome budgetary constraints for capital projects by maximizing space utilization through shared resource planning and optimization. We’ll discuss how we leveraged metrics and space utilization studies to achieve a unifying one-building solution for all engineering programs at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville rather than the original master plan vision for three buildings. As we look forward to the reopening of labs post-COVID-19, this webinar will provide some considerations that will guide the creation of a safe and healthy lab environment as well as discussions on real challenges from universities’ perspectives.

Universities can leverage public-private partnerships to expand beyond the boundaries of the campus to relieve space constraints as well as facilitate collaboration with allied institutions.
Abstract: Many universities struggle to meet space demands when they expand their programs near allied institutions. Public-private partnerships can solve this challenge while helping to strengthen industry and institutional partnerships. Universities can leverage public-private partnerships to expand beyond the boundaries of the campus to relieve space constraints as well as facilitate collaboration with allied institutions. Space demands are significant challenges that need to be addressed and this session will show you an alternative approach to alleviating space needs.

When building a vision for large land parcel redevelopment as a mixed-use, vibrant district, it is important to have an adaptive planning process with strong leadership and inclusive dialogue.
