Cleveland State University Campus Tour

The Washkewicz College of Engineering added over 100,000 GSF (gross square feet) to the existing 200,000 GSF building—completed in 2018—on the campus edge in downtown Cleveland.

Abstract: The Washkewicz College of Engineering added over 100,000 GSF (gross square feet) to the existing 200,000 GSF building, completed in 2018. The building has become an icon for the college with its modern lab and teaching spaces, and serves as campus entrance marker in downtown Cleveland.

Abstract: Northeastern University's Innovation Campus at Burlington, Massachusetts (ICBM) leverages university intellectual capital. By partnering faculty and students with the private sector, the university can offer established companies and graduate startups opportunities while securing valuable returns. We will share how Northeastern developed ICBM's campus using alternative financing strategies, private partnerships, creatively re-purposed existing facilities. The result? A satellite campus that supports a range of research needs, moving at the speed of business.

Abstract: In today’s economy, 7 out of 10 open jobs require technical training. Industries are turning to community colleges to solve their workforce training needs. In this session, we will discuss the Construction Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility at Metropolitan Community College’s Fort Omaha campus, that facilitates project-based learning to bring industry partners, non-profits, and students together under a common vision. We will share how the renovation of The Ohio State University’s Biomedical and Materials Science Engineering Complex’s managed project objectives to achieve the best use of space, phased construction, budget, and sustainability goals.
Abstract: The Ohio State University (OSU) strategically planned and designed research and academic spaces for their growing College of Engineering program. This phased renovation and addition to existing laboratories within a prominent campus core provided OSU with a contextual gateway as well as essential research and academic space to support growing enrollment. We will share how the Biomedical and Materials Science Engineering Complex’s (BMEC) renovation required diligent management of project objectives to achieve the best use of space, phased construction, budget, and sustainability goals for a signature project.

Beginning in middle and high schools and continuing through the workplace, developing new partnerships along the education continuum helps to reimagine workforce education and facilities to inspire the next generation of construction industry leaders.
