Abstract: Over the past two decades, specialized graduate schools and high-value research resources have begun to expand past traditional campuses and into urban cores. By moving these programs and resources from relatively isolated campuses into an existing ecosystem, university leaders are signaling the urban campus’s value in both attracting the right talent and supercharging their research capabilities. These projects, if successful, create and solidify a beneficial relationship between the campus and local industries and communities. For cultural and financial reasons, Eastern Michigan University explored bringing its College of Business back on campus from downtown Ypsilanti. Learn how bringing a program back to campus can provide your institution with opportunities for reinforcing or changing campus culture, building partnerships, and enhancing program integration.
Abstract: Students who participate in off-campus programs frequently desire more on-campus integration, but limited financial resources require creative solutions to optimize space utilization and effectiveness. Eastern Michigan University’s College of Business has been located off campus in downtown Ypsilanti since 1991. For cultural and financial reasons, the university started to explore bringing the college back on campus. Abstract: We’re living in challenging times and other crises are sure to follow. Having the proper skills and culture will mean the difference between success and failure. This session will introduce you to concepts about preparing for this adversity. We don’t learn from our experiences—we learn from reflecting on them. Come share and reflect on your experiences with your peers and learn a new framework to help you lead in a crisis.
