Kathleen A. Rose
President and Superintendent
Gavilan College
Dr. Kathleen Rose has been serving the California Community College system since 2002, with the past 4 years as Superintendent/President at Gavilan Joint Community College District in Gilroy. Previously, Dr. Rose was the Executive Vice President and Chief Instruction Officer at Gavilan College for seven years and was at neighboring Hartnell College in similar administrative positions prior to that. Before her service with the community colleges, Dr. Rose was an Associate Dean at Chapman University for twenty years, where she administered undergraduate and graduate programs in Arizona and California at military and community locations. In addition, Dr. Rose has continuously taught as an associate faculty member for more than thirty years at the undergraduate and graduate level in psychology and organizational leadership at a number of colleges and universities. She has provided workshops and keynote addresses on topics in leadership development with a particular focus on organizational change, ethics, and women’s leadership skills.
Dr. Rose has a BA in English and Elementary Education from SUNY Geneseo, a M. Ed. in Education with a major in Counseling from the University of Arizona and an Ed.D. with a major in Educational Leadership and a minor in Higher Education from the University of Arizona. Dr. Rose is also a National Certified Counselor and has experience as a private therapist and as an agency counselor.
