Abstract: Post-covid, many campuses are still struggling with balancing in-person, remote, and hybrid student experiences. Working within tight funding constraints, University of Washington (UW) Bothell developed a strategy to revitalize the campus core, double down on in-person experiences, and repurpose underutilized spaces for future flexibility. Come learn about new broadly applicable methods and solutions for revitalizing campuses in our current and future condition of blended in-person, remote, and hybrid educational models.

2023 Campus Facilities Inventory (CFI) Report

The 2023 Campus Facilities Inventory (CFI) report’s valuable facilities benchmarking data will help college and university leaders understand not only what they have now and how it compares, but also how things might change in the future.
Abstract: As leaders of colleges and universities continue to analyze changes today and plan their campuses for the future, the knowledge and insight from the SCUP community is critical. The 2023 Campus Facilities Inventory (CFI) report’s valuable facilities benchmarking data will help college and university leaders understand not only what they have now and how it compares, but also how things might change in the future.

The CFI report consists of two sections that provide a holistic picture of today while enabling institutions to crowdsource a vision for the future: current space use data and recent and planned changes to campus facilities.

Data are reported only in aggregate, protecting the privacy of each institution. Reporting focuses on findings and comparison tables by institution type (e.g., four-year public, four-year private, and two-year public), location (e.g., urban, suburban, rural), and size (i.e., in-person student headcount).

Executive leadership changes at Northern Michigan University led the interim president, interim provost, and Board of Trustees to call for a bridge plan to clearly articulate strategic work happening throughout campus. Interpreting diverse perspectives and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative information are key to making impactful and informed long-term decisions that drive successful student, institutional, and facility development. In order to meet mounting demand, the historical center for administration at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania needed to reflect the university's forward-thinking ethos and offer flexible work settings to meet current and future occupant needs. We'll explore how the Wharton School used a performance measurement tool to examine space effectiveness and leverage lessons learned to create a more agile, resilient, and equitable future.
