Scenario planning is especially useful for communicating external and internal trends and bridging a discussion between the most recent visioning exercise and transition. In this presentation, we'll demonstrate a step by step how-to for you to apply on your own campus with a vivid description of deliverables, tools, and 'gotchas.'

Abstract: Thompson Rivers University (TRU) has evolved from a small Cariboo College in British Columbia to a fully-fledged university—and the first Canadian institution to receive platinum ranking for its leadership in sustainability. TRU has been developing new and renovating existing structures to enhance campus life and add vibrancy to the campus for all who visit it. This tour will showcase how TRU has been developing infrastructure befitting a modern university, including learner-centered spaces, research facilities, and housing. We will also explore how TRU is striving to become a carbon-neutral campus with net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Abstract: The newly consolidated Augusta University implemented an annual planning and resource alignment process to streamline procedures and integrate strategic efforts across the institution. This process fosters transparency in each unit's accomplishments, challenges, and priorities by holding annual open hearings that culminate with executive-level feedback on units’ annual plans and prioritization for fiduciary support. You will gain ideas for implementing such a process at your institution by exploring timing considerations, content of hearings, planning templates, and follow-up reporting and monitoring.
