Mary Elliott, EdD
Executive Director of Residence Life and Auxiliary Services
Colorado School of Mines
Mary has served in various roles within education her whole professional life. Starting as a middle school teacher, Mary found Student Affairs through a passion for the intentional teaching and learning that takes place for students outside the formal classroom. She has worked for 20 years in higher education and residential education in particular. Her doctoral work, centered around the experience of Autistic students in residence halls, has helped her to not only shape her own department to be more welcoming and inclusive of neurodiverse students, but other residential programs as well. Mary hopes to continue her work with architectural partners exploring more ways to design and build in collaboration with intentional design inclusive of neurodiverse students. Mary is also co-caretaker to her little zoo of furry friends, Decker, Greta and Kitty.
