Laura Trieschmann

State Historic Preservation Officer
Vermont Division for Historic Prevention

Laura V. Trieschmann was appointed to serve as the Vermont State Historic Preservation Officer in 2013 by Governor Shumlin and reappointed in 2017 by Governor Scott. She directs the Division for Historic Preservation, which is set within the Agency of Commerce and Community Development. The programs she oversees include the State and National Registers, rehabilitation investment tax credits, Act 250 and Section 106 project reviews, state archaeology, barn and preservation grants, underwater preserves, state-owned historic sites, and roadside historic site markers. Prior to coming to Vermont, she worked as a preservation consultant in the Washington, D.C. area. She holds a graduate degree in historic preservation from the University of Pennsylvania and bachelor’s degrees in preservation and design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Ms. Trieschmann lives in Burlington, of course in an historic house constructed in 1888.
