John Muckler
Associate Director, Operations and Information Technology Facilities

Ann Arbor, MIJohn Muckler has been a manager and director in the University of Michigan’s (UM) College of Engineering’s (CoE) information technology group for 27 years. Muckler’s responsibilities are broad and include managing day-to-day operations in all CoE computing labs and data centers. He also heads numerous audiovisual projects and plays an integral role in the college’s instructional technology initiative. Muckler has been leading the planning and specification of instructional computing labs in CoE since 1988. He has been prototyping and developing group computing space for more than 15 years, beginning with experimentation in the Media Union/Duderstadt Center in 1996. In 2003, Muckler spearheaded the first collaborative (teaming) computing lab at UM in partnership with a major Michigan furniture manufacturer. He has presented his work at Big Ten Engineering Information Technology Centers Conference. Muckler’s other passion is adaptive technology—specifying products and furniture for CoE students.
