Jianping Wang
President
Mercer County College
Dr. Jianping Wang is the President of Mercer County Community College in West Windsor, New Jersey. Wang, a native Chinese, holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and a Master’s degree in English Literature. She taught English at Chinese universities before coming to the United States in 1989 to pursue a career change from teaching to higher education administration.
She serves on a number of advisory and volunteer boards, including the National Community College Advisory Council for ETS, the Princeton-Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Mercer County Workforce Investment Board, the Institute for Community College Development at Cornell University, and others. Dr. Wang served on the Transition Team on Education for New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy as well as the Transition Team for Mayor Reed Gusciora of Trenton.
She has received the Dynamic Achiever in Education Award from the Organization of Chinese Americans, a New Jersey Future 2019 Smart Growth Award, and was named the 2019 American Institute of Architects-New Jersey chapter New Jersey Resident of the Year for her efforts leading the re-development and expansion of MCCC’s Trenton campus.
