Dr. David E. Oliver Ed.D, CSP, CEM
Director of Environmental Health and Safety and Emergency Manager
Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KentuckyDavid serves as Director of Environmental Health and Safety and Emergency Manager at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. David and his staff oversee all Environmental, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Protection and Emergency Management activities across four campuses with 17,000 students and 2800 faculty and staff. David is also a graduate faculty member in the WKU Ogden College of Science and Technology focused on Emergency Management Disaster Science curriculum and a Director in the Disaster Science Operations Center (DSOC).
Prior to joining WKU David spent more than thirty years with General Motors Corporation. He held a variety of positions in Security, Fire Protection, Labor Relations, and Safety, at the plant, division and corporate staff levels. David served as Dean of the Health & Safety College within the General Motors University from 2005 until 2009.
David has public emergency services experience spanning over 40 years in fire, EMS, and Emergency Management.
David has a bachelor’s degree in Fire and Safety/Loss Prevention and a master’s degree in security, Safety and Emergency Management both from Eastern Kentucky University. He holds a Certificate in Community Preparedness and Disaster Management from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Western Kentucky University. - Topics
