Claire Forbes

Associate Planner, Planning, Design & Construction
University of Vermont

Claire Forbes is an Associate Planner in Planning, Design & Construction at the University of Vermont, where she supports campus planning, capital project development, and sustainability initiatives. Since joining UVM in 2017, she has played a key role in advancing the university’s long-term vision for its physical campus. In 2022, she expanded her role to also support the Office of Sustainability, helping connect campus planning with institutional sustainability goals. Her work has contributed to the Campus Plan 2022–2032 and UVM’s inaugural Comprehensive Sustainability Plan.

Claire brings a multidisciplinary perspective to campus planning, with experience in master planning, community development, land use strategy, and project management. She enjoys working collaboratively with stakeholders across the university to support projects that strengthen the campus environment and improve how people experience and move through campus spaces. Claire holds a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Florida A&M University. She has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2008 and AICP-certified since 2013, and she completed the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) Emerging Leaders Program in 2025.
