Catherine Short
Membership Records Associate
A person dedicated to details and learning, Catherine Notestine-Short, the membership records associate for the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), helps make the membership road easier to travel. Uncertain when your membership ends or how to renew? Would you like to include a colleague with the group? Need to access some online resources? Contact her and your questions will be answered.
Her career started in the field of cookbook publishing, where she quickly appreciated the value of personalized customer service through interactions with representatives from major food brands. Overseeing the photo library of food shots was a delightful perk (ooh, especially the pictures of delectable desserts!). She changed her career course to higher education to assist with on-site degree programs for an automotive supplier. In 2008 she interviewed for a temporary position to assist SCUP’s membership office. Eleven years later, she continues to be part of the membership team: a first responder to daily Q&As, issuing renewals, generating invoices, and more–all with a generous serving of prompt and friendly customer service.
While the loves of her life are without a doubt her husband and two teenagers, she enjoys creating healthy dishes, walking, hiking, biking, yoga, Pilates, ballet, and music. Her most ardent restorative respite is reading (a true introvert), either a novel for book club or a personal choice. And if you need chocolate, you’re sure to find a generous stash of chocolate in her desk drawer!
