Alan Packer has nearly 30 years of applied AI and machine learning experience in speech and language understanding, and in the security space (content filtering, anti-spam and anti malware.) Alan is currently a member of the board of directors for Expert.ai as well as the owner and CEO of AI Advisors LLC, providing consulting and advisory board services to a global set of AI companies. Alan was the Director of Engineering for Amazon’s Alexa Natural Language Understanding team from 2018-2022. Prior to that, he was the Director of Engineering for Facebook’s Search Platform team and Language Technology team, responsible for Search Ranking, Machine Translation, Speech Recognition and Natural Language Understanding technology. Alan also spent 12 years at Microsoft as the GM of the Anti-Malware team and later the Language and Intent team in Bing, building the core technology and back end for Microsoft’s personal assistant Cortana. Previously, Alan was VP of Engineering at RuleSpace, Inc, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2002.
