Perspectives
Chico State is a proud Hispanic-Serving Institution with an undergraduate population comprised of 50% first-generation, 56% people of color, and 35% from a low socioeconomic background. These demographics challenged campus leadership to create a plan that provides the types of spaces, support, and services that allow students to thrive. The plan creates safe, affordable housing; better access to food; whole student wellness; flexible learning spaces; a 24/7 campus; and inclusive spaces for all. The plan elevates the student experience by increasing the number of students living on campus and ensures all students have better access to dining, recreation, and support options.
