Strategic Partnerships

Strategic partnerships help us achieve our mission of advancing institutions by connecting our community with organizations that represent and command a better future for higher education. SCUP is proud to engage with organizations that add value to our professional community.

SCUP Partners

Inter-Association Movement (I-AM)
Through countless conversations, volunteer input, survey insights, and conference sessions with our communities, ACPA, NACAS, and SCUP have joined to form the Inter-Association Movement (I-AM). This partnership was not born in a boardroom—it emerged from the real challenges and opportunities our communities have shared, and seeks to boldly change how our associations collaborate and serve members. We envision driving a systematic movement in higher education by modeling genuine collegiality and trust-building—not just words, but real action and tangible impact. We aspire to create a network of change-makers for higher education supported by a database of collective resources for members and students, because we believe that meaningful transformation happens when we all work together.

Campus Sonar
Campus Sonar is a specialized social listening agency for higher education. By leveraging the power of social listening data, Campus Sonar is helping SCUP increase its organizational capacity to conduct research, grow the community, and cultivate its communication strategies for the audience of today and the leaders of tomorrow. Effective communication and scaling the growth of our organization are the keys to ensuring our ability to build a community of higher education professionals that are ready to transform their institutions.

The Council of Higher Education Management Associations (CHEMA)
CHEMA is an informal and voluntary assembly of management-oriented higher education associations in the United States and Canada. We collectively share information, compare experiences, and work together on projects of shared interest. CHEMA members maximize their resources and create substantial benefits for the colleges and universities they represent. SCUP has long recognized CHEMA as a valuable forum for discussion on higher education issues, partnerships, and solutions. A list of CHEMA member organizations can be found here.

Higher Education Associations Sustainability Consortium (HEASC)
HEASC is a network of higher education associations with a commitment to advancing sustainability within their constituencies and the entire system of higher education. AASHE serves as the coordinating body for HEASC.

HEASC works to build its members’ capacity to advance sustainability through initiatives such as:

  • Providing a forum to enable members to share information and exchange ideas
  • Promoting and supporting each other’s sustainability programming
  • Connecting members to expertise and resources to help them enhance their sustainability work
  • Engaging in joint projects, as appropriate to each organization’s mission

Grand Challenges in Assessment
SCUP is an endorsing organization of the Grand Challenges for Assessment in Higher Education. This project is a collaborative effort endorsed by ten higher education organizations to create national strategic plans to address pressing challenges facing assessment in higher education. An advisory board representing the endorsing organizations has overseen the work of over 400 assessment professionals, faculty, and students who created bold strategic plans to address the challenges. The plans are currently being implemented by five teams overseeing national efforts to address these challenges.
