Lorena Permuy is Senior Director of University Student Services Facilities, Planning & Design at Johns Hopkins University, where she leads planning, capital project development, and facilities initiatives supporting the student experience across the university. An architect and planner with nearly 30 years of experience across higher education, the public sector, and private architectural practice, she has led a wide range of projects including campus planning studies, major renovations, adaptive reuse of historic buildings, and strategic capital planning initiatives. Prior to Johns Hopkins, she held planning and capital project leadership roles at Georgetown University and also served in Arlington County’s Department of Community Planning, Housing and Development, working in commercial building code review and development oversight. Her work focuses on aligning campus planning, design, and capital investment with institutional priorities while enhancing the student experience and long-term stewardship of campus environments.
