Peichi Waite

Dr. Peichi Waite is the Director of Scarlet Arts Rx, a campus-wide arts and well-being program serving students at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. The initiative was recognized by Inside Higher Ed as a Student Success Story and received an Honorable Mention for Arts for Innovation from the National Organization for Arts in Health Cam Busch Awards. A 2025 Global Arts in Medicine Fellow, Dr. Waite’s work explores human flourishing at the intersection of the arts, education, health, and technology. Under her leadership, Scarlet Arts Rx has expanded student access and engagement in the arts through more than 100 campus partnerships and the reimagining of campus spaces and resources. Her creative programming ranges from quirky student activities such as Mini Rage Piñatas – with more than 1,000 created to date – to Dining with a Side of Art, which has elevated the humble Rutgers Farms beet. Dr. Waite is also a practicing fine art photographer, with work currently featured in a traveling national exhibition with Thrive! Healthy People, Healthy Planet.
