South Texas College
McAllen, TXMelissa Renner serves as the Manager of Institutional Effectiveness at South Texas College (STC). In this role, she supports the college’s integrated planning processes, facilitates institutional effectiveness reporting, and collaborates with leadership across divisions to strengthen alignment between strategic goals and accreditation readiness. She works closely with faculty, staff, and administrators to support planning for student success and operational effectiveness.

Her experience includes coordinating accreditation efforts with SACSCOC, developing institutional planning workshops, guiding key performance indicators (KPIs), and supporting the creation of STC’s Strategic Plan. In July 2025, she co-presented at the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) Annual Conference on South Texas College’s restructured planning model and the development of the Institutional Leadership Council (ILC) and Institutional Planning and Effectiveness Committee (IPEC).
Renner is a doctoral candidate in the Higher Education Administrative Leadership (HEAL) program at Texas A&M University–Kingsville. She holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where she focused on sustainable community health and administration.
She begins most mornings with too many cups of coffee, and a long to-do list. Outside of work, she enjoys choir directing at her church, planning RV trips, and taking on overzealous DIY projects.
