John Hannum
Executive Director of Engineering and Campus Energy
Princeton University
John Hannum is a Professional Engineer and Registered Architect working as the Executive Director of Engineering and Campus Energy at Princeton University. In this role, John leads a team of more than 50 who safely and efficiently provide continuous reliable chilled water, hot water, steam and electrical power to the campus. He leads the planning and implementation of the University’s Infrastructure Master Plan and provides critical contributions to the Sustainability Action Plan. Leading up to his current role at the University, John worked in the University’s Office of Capital Projects for nearly 8 years helping to facilitate the design, construction, and turnover of buildings on campus including our Thermally Integrated GeoExchange Resource (TIGER and CUB). Before joining Princeton, John worked in both the mechanical engineering and façade consulting fields for over 20 years, most recently managing a division within a consulting firm focused on bridging the gaps between building trades to achieve high performance energy efficient outcomes. John has a bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering and a master’s degree in business administration.
