Ryan Yaden

Ryan is an Associate Partner at Lake|Flato, where he leads the design of a diverse range of high-performing, student-centric destinations that foster healthy living-learning environments. As a leader in Lake|Flato’s Higher Education studio, Ryan focuses on projects that build community and connect people to their environment. Influenced by the natural beauty of his childhood home in the Pacific Northwest, Ryan has been drawn to how we make our mark on the land. This passion took him abroad to Asia through Harvard University and the prestigious Rotch Scholarship studying threatened forms of cultural heritage. This broad understanding of the extremes in how we inhabit the earth has fueled his desire to seek elegant solutions to complex problems.

Ryan’s commitment to sustainable design and responsible stewardship of the natural environment results in award-winning projects that successfully celebrate the synthesis between building and landscape, materiality and craft, and budget and performance.  He currently serves on the University of Oregon School of Architecture & Environment’s Advisory Council, a group of professionals that advises the school on how to better connect with the profession and advance the school’s mission.
