Mike Cogan

Mike Cogan is a seasoned university executive, institutional planner, and higher education researcher with a distinguished 25-year career serving private and public universities across multiple sectors to include two- and four-year institutions, land grant universities and liberal arts colleges, state systems, and professional organizations. Currently a co-founder of Unicus Decision Support, Mike has collaborated with more than 40 colleges and universities to establish customized academic cost and planning tools, empowering faculty and administrators to make informed academic planning decisions aligned with institutional mission and fiscal realities. Additionally, Mike led the development and delivery of an academic portfolio workstream for a global consulting firm, bringing a unique blend of practical and strategic expertise to the field of academic cost stewardship. Prior to this, he served as Vice President for Institutional Planning and Decision Support at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. His extensive academic background and professional expertise make him a leading authority in academic cost stewardship and decision support, specializing in the development of customized cost analysis framework used to inform academic planning at colleges and universities. Mike holds a PhD in Quantitative Research Methodologies from the University of North Dakota.
