SCUP

Community Engagement Committee At-Large Member – All Regions

The Community Engagement Committee is a volunteer group dedicated to building community across SCUP’s diverse audience—including members, prospective members, volunteers, and partners. This work goes beyond outreach and recruitment; it is about cultivating the SCUP experience that is recognizable and inclusive, no matter where or how someone engages.

This committee believes community engagement is about empowering members to connect authentically, support one another, and grow together in a way that aligns personal and organizational goals. It ensures that every member, regardless of role or location, feels valued and inspired to contribute to and benefit from the collective expertise and experiences within the group.

Committee members play a vital role in shaping how people experience SCUP—whether through regional programs, the SCUP Exchange, the Annual Conference, community conversations, or other engagement opportunities. They work in partnership with SCUP staff, fellow volunteers, and other committees to ensure that SCUP’s value of community is consistently reflected across all touchpoints, creating a welcoming environment and a clear understanding of what it means to participate in the SCUP community. In doing so, they help coordinate engagement efforts that strengthen SCUP’s community and presence in higher education.

The committee supports SCUP’s strategic goals by:

  • Cultivating an inclusive, welcoming, and connected community culture where anyone engaging with SCUP feels a sense of belonging and clarity around what it means to participate.
  • Promoting the value and practice of Integrated Planning through peer engagement, idea exchange, and shared learning experiences.
  • Advancing connections across disciplines and regions to better represent the range of roles and institutions shaping higher education.
  • Creating spaces beyond events where ongoing connections and community-building can thrive year-round.
  • Collaborating with other committees, volunteers, and SCUP staff to align efforts and amplify our collective impact across the organization.
