Richard GillilandThree principles of general systems theory are presented, and systems theory is distinguished from systems analyiss. The principles help explain some recent trends in higher education and have implications for higher education administration. The purpose of this article is to expand the utilization, and to stimulate the development, of general systems theory in higher education.
