Integrated planning has a close relationship with change and change management. Integrated planning facilitates change and requires change practices to succeed. In looking at the world more broadly, integrated planning prepares institutions for change in their environment, helping them create living, fluid plans that can adapt. These competencies relate to change.

Adapt to Change
The ability to adapt and revise plans and initiatives as circumstances change
- Navigate and adapt to change, inside and outside the institution.
- Evaluate and respond to hurdles: overcome, change course, or hold off.
- Look for opportunities in unplanned change.
Solve Problems
The ability to identify, analyze, and solve issues and problems
- Seek opportunities to improve. Monitor performance to identify problems and inefficiencies to address.
- Define the problem. Use data and information to analyze issues and determine what needs to change.
- Solve problems. Take actions to address issues.
