Rethinking Affirmative Action on Campus

Journal Cover
From Volume 24 Number 1 | Fall 1995
By George R. La Noue

The author reflects on changes in legal standards and political support for affirmative action, and urges reconsideration of campus affirmative action policies and programs. Reviews recent federal court decisions, tracks how public opinion and demographics have shifted in the last thirty years, and proposes that campus affirmative action programs should address one of three goals: remedying past discrimination, expanding diversity, or promoting social justice.
