Journal Cover
From Volume 25 Number 4 | Summer 1997
By Lyndel King, Clinton N. Hewitt

Describes the planning and construction of the University of Minnesota’s art museum. The museum is notable for its location and for being built without state funds, thus freeing the construction from many political and aesthetic constraints. The building, designed by Frank Gehry, has become an integral part of the life and art of the campus.
