This session will describe how South Texas College (STC) restructured its integrated planning processes through the development of two planning bodies: the Institutional Leadership Council (ILC) and the Institutional Planning and Effectiveness Committee (IPEC). This restructuring was instrumental in dismantling silos, aligning stakeholders, and amplifying diverse voices across STC’s large service district and multiple campuses. Presenters will share lessons learned from the restructuring and demonstrate how to use both small-group (IPEC) and large-group (ILC) communication channels to balance inclusive communication with intentional, focused dialogue.

What this will cover/Topics:

  • Why STC created the ILC and IPEC
  • How the new structure reduced silos and improved alignment
  • Using large- and small-group formats for planning conversations
  • Lessons learned and tips for adapting this model

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the core roles of the ILC and IPEC in STC’s planning structure.
  • Explain how the restructuring improved alignment and amplified diverse voices.
  • Compare the benefits of large-group and small-group planning dialogues.
  • Identify one or two ways to adapt STC’s approach to their own campus.
