Without the right resources, the goals and aspirations we set out to achieve will never come to fruition. Unfortunately, there’s often a disconnect between our stated goals and how our resources get allocated, making it nearly impossible to implement our plans, initiatives, and changes.
This hands-on workshop will walk you through a process for building a budget that supports your goals, strategies, or initiatives. Through real-world examples and interactive tools, you’ll learn how to use strategic priorities to guide resource allocation choices, including how to interpret budget data, assess your financial position, forecast revenue and expenses, and bring it all together into a strategic budget. Further, we’ll discuss how to use your budget to monitor and assess the progress of your goals and initiatives, helping you make better resource decisions in the future.
You’ll leave this workshop with the tools and skills you need to ensure your institution’s (or department’s) goals and priorities have the resources they need to succeed.
Who This Is For
This workshop is designed for professionals who are responsible for implementing plans, managing resources, or leading teams within colleges and universities. Whether you’re tasked with building a budget that supports your institution’s priorities, or you just want to help your department achieve its goals, this workshop will provide the clarity, tools, and confidence you need.
You’ll Find It Especially Valuable If You:
- Need to translate strategic goals into clear budgets or resource plans.
- Are planning to launch a new initiative or program and want to ensure it’s financially feasible.
- Have limited budgeting experience and want a practical introduction.
- Want to improve coordination between planning and resource allocation.
- Are looking for tools and templates to guide your planning and budgeting work.
