Planning for Higher Education JournalRegional Planning in California
Objectives, Obstacles, and Alternatives
From Volume 5 Number 4 | August 1976By Bill Deegan, Janis C. AlfordThis article is part of a longer report titled "Regional Planning in Postsecondary Education: Objectives, Obstacles, Alternatives," which was adopted by the California Postsecondary Education Commission in February 1976. At the direction of the California State Legislature, the authors explored regional planning in other states as well as in California in an effort to determine the advantages and disadvantages of voluntary versus mandated interinstitutional cooperation. In this revised report, the authors discuss the current state of regional planning in California and propose a number of alternatives for future cooperation.
