Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) Announces 2018 SCUP Fellows

SCUP Fellows Launch Their 2018–19 Research Projects

(Ann Arbor, MI) Three exceptional higher education professionals have been selected by the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) to become the next team of SCUP Fellows.

The SCUP Fellows Program, supported by the SCUP Annual Fund, is designed to build higher education leaders and to help them bring their innovative ideas and pioneering solutions forward.

During their fellowship year, they initiate and complete a research project of their choosing that contributes to SCUP’s knowledge base of integrated planning. They share the outcomes of their project with SCUP’s constituency at the conclusion of their year.

“We’re inspired by their commitment to their institutions and to their own professional growth”, said Ivan Banks, Interim Dean, School of Education and Psychology, Alcorn State University, and chair of SCUP’s Professional Development Committee. “They will work closely with our SCUP members to deepen their knowledge of higher education planning and to build their effectiveness within their own institutions.”

SCUP welcomes the following Fellows for the 2018–19:

Jeffrey T.F. Ashley, Director of the Center for Teaching Innovation and Nexus Learning Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University)

  • Research Title: Assessing the Impact of Active Learning Spaces on Development of Career-Ready Soft Skills

Diane R. Dean, Associate Professor, Higher Education Administration and Policy Illinois State University

  • Research Title: From Theory to Practice: Case Studies in Academic Program Planning

Jeremy Webster, Campus Dean, Ohio University Zanesville

  • Research Title: Collaborative Planning as a Means toward Collaborative Innovation on a Co-Located Campus

“The valuable research from our SCUP Fellows contributes to our understanding of higher education planning processes”, said Michael D. Moss, president of the Society for College and University Planning. “Our members are tremendously interested in their topics and look forward to their research outcomes each year.”

The SCUP Fellows program formally begins at SCUP 2018 Annual Conference in Nashville this summer. For more information about the SCUP Fellows Program, please contact Kathleen Benton at kathy.benton@scup.org.
