SCUP 2014 Award for Institutional Integration and Innovation Recipient
The 2014 award recipient is the Glendale Community College (AZ) for their entry, Disruptive Transition to an Integrated Organizational Planning and Resource Allocation Model.
The Glendale Community College integrated strategic planning model represents a significant paradigm shift at the institution. Rather than focusing exclusively on the production of a strategic plan, the college now seeks to vertically integrate planning at the departmental, divisional, and college levels, and to horizontally integrate planning with resources and assessment across the organization. This disruptive innovation allows the college to remain true to its mission, ensuring the allocation of resources to its strategic priorities, which champion student success.

This award recognizes and honors achievement by higher education institutions that have demonstrated innovative thinking, planning and implementation in an integrated fashion. Integrated planning is the process whereby all planning and budget activities throughout every level of the organization are effectively linked and coordinated and driven by the institution’s vision, mission and academic priorities. The award honors the tools, processes, and other initiatives that increase collaboration, coordination and synergies across the institution(s). It serves to highlight the process and why a project is innovative and integrative rather than on the physical results.
