Downtown Phoenix has become a focal point for the education of healthcare professionals. With the ongoing development of the Arizona State University Downtown Campus and the Phoenix Biomedical Campus (a joint effort of Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona), each of the Arizona public universities now offers healthcare degree programs and research in Phoenix’s urban core.
Colleges and universities are encouraging multidisciplinary teaching, research, and collaboration. Downtown Phoenix's nexus of Arizona’s three universities has established a unique framework to explore the opportunities for these learning and research models. This symposium will examine innovative approaches to multidisciplinary models, which seek to redefine complex problem solving outside of traditional boundaries, reaching solutions from diverse academic perspectives. We will use the context of multiple healthcare professional programs to explore various dimensions of this model and the programs, approaches, and environments that support success.
