Acoustics and vibration in higher education facilities can be both quantitative and subjective. For vibration sensitive research, we will demonstrate how remote monitoring systems can help improve the quantitative assessment of impacts from nearby construction activities. To address the subjective acoustical experience, we will show how 3dListening (acoustical simulation) can let designers and institutional representatives “hear” a space before it is built. This immersive experience can be extremely helpful as the project team makes decisions through the design and value engineering process. The presentations will be hosted on a digital audio/video transport allowing for easy data sharing between the presentation equipment in the booth and booth visitors using bring-your-own-device collaboration.
