Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global, experiential, research university built on a tradition of engagement with the world, creating a distinctive approach to education and research.
The physical campus has grown from a small commuter school surrounded by parking lots, to a compact urban campus with 8 million square feet across 72 acres in Boston. Now, the university offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs leading to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools, and select advanced degrees at graduate campuses in Charlotte, North Carolina, Seattle, Silicon Valley, and Toronto.
We will discuss how Northeastern has managed its growth, starting with the physical transformation and development of the campus, which includes new residential facilities, a major science and engineering complex, and the renovation of acquired industrial property. We will share how Northeastern is investing locally with community-boosting efforts and globally with satellite campuses and online programs. And we will outline how a new planning group that ensures the planning, design, and construction services at the university productively steward critical resources.
