SCUP 2015 North Atlantic Regional Conference:
Plans Within Plans: Campus in Context
April 12–14, 2015 | Providence, RI
“Always design a thing by considering it in its next larger context – a chair in a room, a room in a house, a house in an environment, an environment in a city plan.” — Eero Saarinen
We plan in the context of the city or town where we are situated. Some campuses must submit formal plans to their host communities. Others involve local planners and other officials in their planning processes. Others may have an antagonistic relationship with their neighbors.
Increasingly colleges are being looked to as engines of economic development in their communities—but does local planning and zoning support this? How does the planning going on around our campuses affect our own plans?
Join other leaders in higher education as they discuss how they are creating new partnerships and looking beyond the traditional methods to create successful campuses.
