Title: Prioritization and Transformation: Informing and Anticipating the Future
Presenter(s) Info: Robert C. Dickeson, President Emeritus, University of Northern Colorado
Integrated planning requires that we start with setting academic and administrative program priorities and using institutional resources more rationally. To inform higher education’s stakeholders of our transformed institutions, we need also to anticipate—and then provide—new metrics of postsecondary effectiveness. This highly interactive session will engage participants in the how and why of prioritization, pitfalls to avoid, faculty engagement, and metrics that matter. (This session will be followed by “Academic Issues: A Conversation with Bob Dickeson” later in the day.)
Define the basics of priority-setting and its seven phases.
Analyze key strategies for engaging institutional participants—especially faculty—in priority-setting.
Prepare for the emerging metrics mandates.
Uncover your own institution’s readiness for prioritization.
