Reporting to the Campus Landscape Architect and working as a member of the Office of University Planning (OUP), the primary role of the site planner is to perform planning, design, and review work in support of the campus landscape architect. Occasional support will also be provided to other OUP design/planning functions (e.g., architectural planning).
This position requires a strong knowledge of landscape planning and design principles. With each design proposal or review, the site planner will also utilize the Virginia Tech Campus Design Principles, consult our recent Campus Master Plan (Beyond Boundaries 2047: The Campus Plan), and other long-term planning documents. These documents assist with assuring that campus improvements fit the current campus standards and align with the long-term campus vision.
– Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university program, or training and experience commensurate to this degree
– Ability to generate high-quality presentation graphics and design materials (demonstrated in portfolio)
– Experience with design software platforms (e.g. AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite)
– Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (particularly PowerPoint)
