Under the direction of the Campus Architect/Assistant Vice Chancellor of Planning, Design & Construction, the Senior Planner is responsible for the development of analyses related to the campus’ capital improvement program; preparation of detailed program documents and funding justifications; coordination of working groups, management of outside consultant activities; and preparation of planning reports, approvals and other documents. This may involve selecting professional design staff, coordinating the activities of clients, design professionals (planners, architects, engineers) and others associated with the project, monitoring project progress, cost and quality, resolving problems that arise in the project; working with state agency officials to ensure compliance, and communication with project stakeholders regarding program, budget, and schedule. The Senior Planner participates in advanced, highly-complex planning activities, and also collaborates in the formulation of capital project budgets and schedules, and management of capital projects during programming and design. The Senior Planner is also expected to make presentations, facilitate meetings, and moderates discussions as part of the planning and project implementation process. Formulates recommendations for the best use of existing facilities and land resources; provide planning, financial, and technical consultation as part of the project development.
Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. (Required)
Master’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, City Planning or other planning or environmental related field. (Preferred)
6 – 10 years of related experience. (Required)
5 years of capital planning and/or project management experience with an institution of higher education or similar environments that includes experience with planning for research laboratories, instructional space, student housing, and infrastructure projects. (Preferred)
