York University Development Corporation (YUDC) has supported York University since the mid-1980s, by providing strong real property advisory, planning, development and project management expertise and experience.
YUDC has a proven track record in working effectively with all levels of government, public and private sector partners, and the communities it serves to successfully deliver transformational projects in innovative and cost-effective ways. Over the past 15 years, YUDC has been directly involved in the delivery of many significant projects on York’s campuses, including:
o The Archives of Ontario/Kaneff Research Tower
o The Pan-Am Games Athletics Stadium
o The Toronto-York-Spadina Subway Expansion
o The Quad Student Residence facilities
YUDC also played a lead role in the development of the business plan and project proposal for the establishment of a new York University campus in Markham. Approved by government in July 2020, YUDC is currently managing the construction of this $300M project.
A proven track record of success provides the basis for a compelling opportunity at YUDC.
York University’s Keele Campus is now a daily destination for close to 60,000 students, faculty, staff and visitors. York is a creative and economic engine for the City of Toronto and the region – and it is on the threshold of an even greater transformation. Under the leadership of the President and Vice-Chancellor and supported by YUDC working with a team of expert planning and real estate advisors, the University has set out a vision and strategy to transform its Keele Campus into a vibrant, walkable, livable, sustainable and complete community centred around one of the country’s great universities.
Living Well Together: Keele Campus Vision and Strategy was approved by the University’s Board of Governors in December 2021. The document underpins an unprecedented opportunity to advance the University’s teaching and research mission, while enhancing the campus, improving the quality of life for its faculty, staff, students and visitors, and meeting a host of economic, social, and sustainability goals for the larger community – on some of the most valuable land in the City of Toronto. It is imperative that York University rise to this challenge – and to do so will require a new leader at YUDC who is up to the task of making this happen.
