Conditions of Employment:
The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Possession of a valid Driver’s License is required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver’s license and reflects driving record.

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Position Information:
This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position. Department: College of Extended & International Education

The College of Extended and International Education at California State University, Dominguez Hills provides degree, certificate, and credential programs and individual credit and noncredit courses to students in Southern California and worldwide in class and via distance learning. Our mission is to expand the resources of the University to better serve the communities of which we are a part.

Major Job Duties:
Under general supervision of the Associate Dean of International Education and SIO, the incumbent is responsible for leading International Admission in CEIE. Will lead a complex international admission process, including development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic enrollment plan for the office of International Education; provide guidelines, policy recommendations in line with CSUDH and CSU admission polices and regulations; interpret and apply provisions of Title V of California administrative code and University policies relating to admission; and perform duties associated with serving as the university’s Designated School Official (DSO). The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the application processing for international applicants and/or coursework; evaluation of records for admission eligibility and credit toward degrees; analyzes the academic records of first-time freshman, transfers, graduate students applicants and non-degree seeking students for ALCP; evaluate transfer credit for undergraduate degrees and specialized programs; as well as graduate level programs and non-degree seeking applicants; determine eligibility for admission; advise applicants, students and faculty on state and university requirements for admissions eligibility issues and CSUDH degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level. May be required to work extended hours and/or weekends.

Qualifications:
Must have the ability to meet the Department of Homeland Securitys requirements for Designated School Official (DSO).

Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of an admissions office at a college or university, including special issues related to the admission and enrollment of international students. General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management. General knowledge of research and interview techniques as they relate to recruitment, admissions, and international and domestic transcript evaluation.

Ability to interpret and apply enrollment management program rules and regulations; use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews; reason logically; collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data; advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required; recognize multicultural, multi-sexed and multi aged value systems and work accordingly; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies, student advising, community contacts, and others in committee work; and, rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas.

Skill in:
Prioritizing and organizing work to meet deadlines. Quantitative methods and data entry.

Demonstrated ability to provide support for office program development, policies and procedures and coordination of admissions and transcript evaluation services for International students. Create, plan, organize, implement and evaluate high school and university credit from countries outside of the U.S. to determine their relevance to meet admissions requirements for CSUDH. Ability to advise students on complex international academic transcript and equivalency as well as immigration issues as well as provide academic, social
and cultural support to enhance student success. Understanding of complex admissions issues. Understanding of the CSU Mentor system for applying to CSUDH. Demonstrated ability to work with community entities and departments that regulate and process immigration documents. Ability to resolve complex immigration problems and to work on multiple complex tasks simultaneously. Ability to collaborate with various University departments to advocate for and resolve student concerns. Able to listen to and advise students in groups or individual settings. Able to demonstrate cultural sensitivity. Evidence of ability to work well with students, faculty and a campus community in a diverse environment. Use computers and communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Oversee, train and motivate graduate and student staff. Interpret and apply various sets of rules, guidelines, regulations and procedures. Ability to be innovative and self-directed.

Familiarity with PeopleSoft; knowledge of visa processing; be eligible for DSO designation. Certification: Possession of a valid Driver’s License is required.

Experience and Education:
Required Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related.
Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis. where such are job related.

Required Experience:
Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience which includes experience in advising students individually and in groups, and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems.
A masters degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work or a job related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling, guidance or a job related field may be substituted for two years of the required professional experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional, personal or career counseling.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this classification is: $5,351 – $7,633 monthly.
