The facilities planner reports to and assists the Director of Facilities Capital Planning and supports the development of projects from idea inception through schematic design. The planner will work with schools/units and campus leadership to develop detailed space/facilities programs, scope of work documents, conceptual/schematic options, rough order of magnitude project budgets and milestone schedules. Projects types include but are not limited to office spaces and scientific research facilities; coordination of moves; formulation of space planning guidelines and policies; space inventory and space utilization management; strategic planning that relates to long-term campus/facilities development; and overall campus planning.

Please note: Position will require local travel between Evanston campus buildings and between the Chicago and Evanston campuses, for which a personal car will be helpful but not essential (it is possible to walk between buildings and the University operates shuttles between campuses).
Position will require some work outside of typical business hours (early morning, evening, weekend) when project or move activities must avoid conflict with building occupants. This will be limited to 5% of working hours.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in a major such as, architecture, engineering, construction management, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Minimum four years experience in facilities space planning preferably in a large institutional environment.
Master’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
Planning experience in a medium to large university setting highly preferred.
