Job Duties

1. Under general direction, reviews user needs to utilize space in the most optimal and cost effective manner. Assists, as directed, in the development of facilities programs, conceptual/schematic plans or drawings, scope of work, schedule, and budgetary allowances. Ensures effective communication among all interested parties.

2. Prepares recommendations and options for the implementation and staging of approved work, including coordination of moves.

3. As directed, prepares drawings, spreadsheets, reports, and presentations related to space and facilities options. Provides information and updates related to space utilization.

4. As assigned, gathers information, analyzes data, and prepares presentations related to space management and campus planning.

5. As needed, manages and directs the work of outside consultants in development of studies, programs, and designs.

6. Maintains a current and comprehensive understanding of Northwestern University systems related to space management, AutoCAD documentation, maintenance management, equipment management and the interface with University databases.

7. Undertakes and completes special projects assigned by the Senior Director and Director of Facilities Capital Planning.

8. Other duties, projects and tasks, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

1. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree in a major such as, architecture, engineering, construction management, or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

2. Minimum four years experience in facilities space planning preferably in a large institutional environment.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

1. Master’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.

2. Planning experience in a medium to large university setting highly preferred.
