Job Duties

Manage and conduct data analysis and production
Manage the data team to ensure the continued high-quality analysis of college data leading to the production of report(s), including but not limited to:
• College wide institutional metrics
• Leading indicators of college initiatives
• American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Voluntary Framework of Accountability metrics
• Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS)
• Management Information System (MIS) reporting to State board
• Program Review
• Program Viability
• Annual and Term enrollment reporting
• Retrospective enrollment and student attribute reports
• Student learning outcomes

Collaborate with departments and divisions and the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) to create and improve data products used to drive decisions. This process involves various constituencies to:
• Define data-based questions
• Understand the limits of available data
• Describe how data will be used
• Build processes to produce relevant data
• Understand and use data reports

Data evangelism for student success and equityIn a manner that respects variations in data competencies, explain college, state and external data to a wide range of constituencies that includes but not limited to:
• President’s Cabinet
• Divisional leadership
• Faculty and staff
• Board of Trustees

Collaborate with instructional leaders, faculty, and staff to measure and track all student success measures
• Lead the creation of equity benchmark data
• Create and improve processes for data input and accuracy to ensure data quality

Support college wide strategic and unit level planning

• Lead development of college strategic plan
• Lead development of strategic plan metrics
• Lead strategic plan review activities including the annual reports on progress toward plan goals
• Provide training to staff and faculty on goal development and metric setting


• Select staff
• Provide training and development
• Plan and assignment of work
• Evaluate performance
• Resolve grievances
• Take corrective action


• Direct official college survey development, delivery and analysis
• Develop and execute college wide survey procedures
• Manage the work of the primary survey developer
• Manage the use of nationally normed instruments
• Serve as Institutional Review Board (IRB) chair
• Direct the work of the IRB and ensure continued compliance with federal regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in social science, public policy, or education-related field which includes research methods, design, and measurement. Relevant experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis
• Four (4) years of demonstrated expertise in statistical and qualitative analysis in education research
• Four (4) years demonstrated expertise in creating data-based reports
• Three (3) years demonstrated expertise in explaining data to non-technical audiences
• Three (3) years management and supervisory experience
• Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, organize and oversee complex work processes, process improvements or projects
• Proficiency with survey methodology, including instrument design and effective administration techniques
• Proficiency with software products used in statistical analysis (e.g., SPSS, SAS) data manipulation (e.g., MS Access, SQL, Excel) and display (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
• Demonstrated experience using metrics to evaluate planning goals, student success, and equity.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
• Maintain a high level of sensitivity to diversity and a commitment to cultural pluralism in the work place and research activities
