Conditions of Employment:
The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Possession of a valid Driver’s License is required.  Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver’s license and reflects driving record.

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.  CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.  Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Position Information:
This is a full-time, permanent (probationary) position.

Department: University Police
The University Police Department provides safety-oriented service to CSU Dominguez Hills.  It includes University Police and Parking Services that provide 24 hour-a-day patrol protection of University property, buildings, parking lots and student housing.  All laws and codes of the state are enforced on the campus, including regulations the University establishes to administer the campus community

Major Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Chief of University Police, this position is directly responsible for guidance with the development, coordination and administration of the campus Emergency Management and Preparedness Programs.  This position will also lend support for the related activities of the campus and other Risk Management / Environment Health & Occupational Safety (EM / EHOS) programs as approved

Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrate effectiveness in-
- Implementing and maintaining emergency management preparedness and continuity programs either within a campus environment or municipal /county environment;
- Evaluation of program quality and effectiveness;
- Setting priorities and establishing key deliverables within a campus or municipal setting;
- Communicating and providing instruction to applicable personnel in a campus or municipal environment;
- Adherence to regulatory issues and the selection of compliance strategy to meet requirements;
- Ability to provide evaluations and implement corrective actions and follow-ups as needed;
- Ability to foster and maintain campus cooperation with key University academic and operational management staff;
- Ability to establish key relationships with outside agencies, key personnel and support groups to enhance the emergency preparedness of the University;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, culturally diverse educational environment within a growing campus.

Computer skills:  Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook and Visio.

Certifications: 
Valid driver’s license and first aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain.  Preferred certifications include ICS 300, ICS 400 and NIMS 700.

Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a physical science, health and safety, engineering, or emergency management/preparedness.  

Experience which has demonstrated acquisition and successful application of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Required Experience:
2 years in the development, implementation and/or evaluation of Emergency Management / Preparedness programs 
OR 
6 years in the development, implementation and/or evaluation of Emergency Management/Preparedness programs.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this classification is: $4,693 – $8,489 monthly.
