Position Description:

Capital Programs is responsible for the conceptualization, planning, design and construction of capital improvement projects for the UCLA campus. In addition to managing projects, Capital Programs staff develop financial strategies, undertake architectural design, conduct building department review of plans and specifications, carry out environmental reviews, and prepare and negotiate construction contracts and agreements, coordinate staging plans, and serve as a repository for project records and as-built plans. Capital Programs is organized into two main operating departments: Capital Planning and Finance and Design and Construction, with a separate Administrative Services unit. Capital Programs exercises responsibility over a major capital improvement that exceed $2.5 billion in the value of projects in planning, design, or under construction.

The Director of Project Development reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Capital Planning and Finance, and assumes oversight of a broad range of planning functions. This includes: the Long Range Development Plan (LRDP); architectural programming and space planning; project development, encompassing procurement of professional services, project definition, budgeting and fund management, scheduling and approvals; environmental planning and approvals; and project implementation of sustainable practices. The Director also develops and manages various campus reporting documents related to project development and budgeting, and schedule coordination of capital projects.

The Director supervises 2 FTE.
