The main campus of Westmoreland County Community College is located in Youngwood, Pennsylvania, a rural setting just 26 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Dr. Kristy Bishop is the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Founded in 1970, Westmoreland County Community College enrolls approximately 4,645 full- and part-time students and offers 63 associate degrees, and 18 diploma and 50 certificate programs, with options that prepare students to enter careers upon graduation or transfer to baccalaureate degree programs at four-year institutions. The college also offers Continuing Education courses for adults, displaced workers, and non-traditional students.
Nestled on 80 acres, the main campus in Youngwood encompasses the Student Achievement Center, the Health and Culinary Center, the Science Innovation Center, and the Business and Industry Center. A state-of-the art 120,000 square-foot addition to the Science Innovation Center was completed in 2018. A major renovation of the Student Achievement Center was completed in 2019.
This position is responsible for developing, leading, and implementing the strategic student success and retention plan for the College.
The position requires a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Nonprofit Administration, Business Administration or related degree required; five to seven years of related experience in enrollment services, recruitment, admissions, records and registration, or related field required; prior supervisory and management experience in related field required; experience working with and supervising employees under labor contracts preferred; experience in data research, analysis, and reporting required; financial aid experience preferred; related work experience in higher education preferred; demonstrated knowledge of effective recruitment and enrollment practices; demonstrated knowledge of advanced principles, theories and concepts used to develop advanced ideas, determine objectives, and implement into final actions; demonstrated knowledge of computers and skilled in the use of technology to enhance delivery of work products; ability to handle sensitive and complex student and/or employee issues consistently, confidentially and professionally; demonstrated knowledge of management processes to effectively plan, organize, implement, direct, control and evaluate programs assigned within areas of functional responsibility; demonstrated knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction; PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Record Check Clearance and FBI Federal Criminal History Record Clearance at employee’s expense; Basic Employment Verification, National Criminal Database Search, and Five-Panel Drug Screen at College’s expense. Prior work performance must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards in current and prior positions.
