Job Duties

Under the general supervision of the Academic Resource Manager and in collaboration with the Department Chair, the incumbent serves as the Department Coordinator for the Department of Modern Language. The primary duties and responsibilities include overseeing and scheduling of all office activities and for making sure that all work is completed in a timely and professional manner. The incumbent independently performs a wide variety of moderate to complex administrative tasks involving the use of judgment and discretion; set priorities, interpret different academic policies and procedures, and communicate effectively with faculty, students, staff and external communities, in-person or by telephone and electronic communication; responds to general inquiries, routine questions and/or resolves issues and problems by providing necessary information. The incumbent is expected to compose and type memos, letters, notices, directives, bulletins, schedules, and agendas; schedule and coordinate appointment calendars, travel, arrange meetings and ensure that proceedings are properly recorded; track, and report on department expenditures; create and maintain filling systems for administrative activities, curriculum, faculty personnel, and student records. Incumbent may also provide lead work to other staff and student assistants.

Required Qualifications

– University or academic infrastructure, policies and procedures.

Experience and Education:
Required Education:
High school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents.

Professional clerical training OR bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a program-related major preferred.

Required Experience:
Several years of related office work experience, equivalent to three.

Equivalent to three (3) years of general office work under supervision which has provided the applicant with the stated knowledge, abilities, and skills. Use of word processing and spreadsheet software programs. Use of computer network systems. Preferred
